Professional Housekeepers Association (PHA) Yuva was formally launched at a grand event on the 9th of September 2017 at PES University. It was founded under the guidance and leadership of Mrs.Jayashree Nagaraj (currently the Founder President & Chairman of PHA), along with a group of like-minded enthusiastic professional housekeepers in Bangalore.

The title says it all. It is an offshoot of PHA, constituted as a formal platform for the youth, aspiring to be a part of the hospitality industry in the core area of housekeeping. PHA Yuva is for the students, by the students and is mentored proficiently by the Executive Committee and PHA Chapter members and industry professionals.

The foremost objective of PHA Yuva is to bridge the gap between the industry and academia and provide a dedicated forum for networking with industry leaders in the field of housekeeping and related endeavors. PHA Yuva shall strive to build a knowledge share base for the students of all hospitality management institutes and provide them an opportunity to exhibit their talents.

The PHA Yuva launch event on the 9th of September 2017 brought students of nine colleges not for a competition but to collaborate, hence showcasing the best out of every institute. This prime spectacle, played out effortlessly even though it seemed infeasible. The mission of PHA Yuva is to achieve path-breaking learnings for youngsters specializing in housekeeping.

PHA YUVA, an offshoot of the Professional Housekeepers’ Association (PHA), was constituted as a formal platform for the youth aspiring to be a part of the hospitality industry in the core area of housekeeping. In essence, PHA Yuva is for the students, by the students, mentored proficiently by the Executive Committee of PHA, PHA Chapter members, and industry professionals. The ideation of the PHA Yuva – Karnataka Chapter was initiated at a brainstorming session on 17th April 2017 at IHM Bangalore where a few faculty members from hospitality schools in Bangalore and the Founder President & Chairperson of PHA deliberated on how to amalgamate the potential energy of the youth in PHA. With all the members unanimously selecting the name PHA Yuva, the idea took shape. The first elections of PHA Yuva were conducted at PES University on 26th August 2017 and the formal launch ensued on 9th September 2017. PHA Yuva has grown by leaps and bounds thereafter with 57 students as members.

The primary objective of the PHA Yuva platform is to bridge the gap between the industry and academia. It provides a dedicated forum for networking with industry leaders in the field of housekeeping and related endeavors. The platform strives to build a knowledge share base for the students of all member hospitality management institutes. The student members can acquire assistance from EHKs of star hotels for the projects given by their institute. PHA encourages Yuva members to take up housekeeping-related research projects in collaboration with life member EHKs. Placements in star hotels in collaboration with EHKs become easier for a PHA Yuva member. They get the benefit of facilitating property visits of any of the life members’ star hotels in collaboration with EHKs. PHA Yuva benefits from the industry visits organized by PHA such as linen tours, eco-friendly cleaning agents’ factory visits, and so on. The members will be able to keep in touch with the latest developments in the hospitality industry through the life member EHKs as they get networking opportunities with hotel professionals, health division experts, facility management professionals, and other hospitality management educational institutions. They get guidance on SOPs, the latest trends and technology, and crisis management from the life members of PHA.

Yuva members are eligible to attend all the knowledge shared, and valuable training sessions organized by PHA. The member students can enhance their career opportunities through mentorship under professionals from the industry. Apart from this, the PHA Yuva forum provides students an opportunity to exhibit their talents and benefit from a lifelong learning platform.
